Housekeeper-Family Medical Clinics
The primary functions of this position include cleaning and supplying of our Williamsburg Family Medical Clinic 5 days per week and North English Family Medical Clinic 2 days per week. Schedule can be flexible with yours, but needs to be after 5:00 P.M. and before 7:00 A.M. when the clinics are closed. Hours will vary up to 24 hours per week.

The housekeeping role is vital in every aspect and area of Compass Memorial Healthcare. The housekeeping/environmental specialist role affects everyone who walks thought the CMH doors; from the staff, doctors, patients and their families. By our standards of cleanliness we are the first line of defense in infection prevention and control. This position is the smile and small talk to the patients and their families as we clean their rooms, or pass them in the hall.

High School Diploma or GED preferred. Previous healthcare cleaning experience preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness as assigned throughout CMH and clinics.
• Dust, Clean, Sanitize all furniture, equipment and other items throughout facility.
• Empty all trash receptacles; transports trash and waste to disposal area.
• Sweeps and scrubs floors using broom or mops.
• Vacuum all carpeted floors, rugs or other furnishings.
• Washes walls, woodwork and windows.
• Keep storage and equipment areas clean and organized.
• Monitor cleaning checklist for other daily, weekly, and monthly duties.
• Ensure laundry is completed daily.
• Ensure patient’s laundry is returned daily.
• Maintain patient rooms by cleaning and sanitizing beds, tables, stands, chairs and miscellaneous furnishings.
• Ensuring patients rooms are clean and sanitized and ready for admits at all times.
• Upon patient discharged, ensure rooms are cleaned, sanitized and replenished.
• Cleans, sanitized and replenished bathrooms as necessary.
• Distributes clean linens to proper areas, closets; and keeps those areas neat and clean.
• Removes soiled linens and places in designated areas.
• Maintains neat, clean and orderly cleaning carts and equipment.
• Maintains neat, clean and orderly storage areas.
• Ensures hallways/rooms are free from equipment/clutter.
• Respond to any housekeeping calls or pages, answering and completing assignment or request in a timely manner.
• Demonstrate ability to use and regulated equipment and chemicals used by Environmental Services department.
• Recognizes unsafe conditions and reports as necessary to maintain a safe workplace.
• Demonstrates a general knowledge of all cleaning products and procedures.
• Recognizes supplies needed throughout facility and specific to departments/areas.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Education, Experience, and Training
a. High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) preferred.
b. Must have at least 1 year environmental services experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
c. Must have the ability to work with associated technologies relevant to the position.
d. Must have the ability to work with tools and equipment relevant to position.
e. Knowledgeable of disinfectants and infection control measures, to insure a healthy and non-infectious environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
f. Knowledgeable of all safety policies and procedures involved in the environmental services department and hospital.
g. Must possess the ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in written form, needs and solutions with all levels of the organization.
h. Ability to define problems, collect information, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
i. Must possess valid Mandatory Reporter training for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse.
j. Must be able to read, speak, and write fluent English.
