Radiology Technologist-CFMC
This position will be at our Colonies Family Medical Clinic. The hours will be Monday through Friday 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
The Imaging Technologist will be responsible for performing a variety of ancillary services including: x-rays, EKG’s, phlebotomy, specimen processing, and waived tests.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Greets patient and their family in a courteous manner by introducing self and explaining the procedure being performed.
• Supports Patient safety by verifying correct patient utilizing two patient identifiers (Patient name and Date of birth
• Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing imaging exams and the use of equipment.
• Practices radiation safety procedures as called for in the Iowa code.
• Determines the most suitable imaging protocol for the exam ordered with assistance of protocols and consults with radiologist.
• Practices proper radiographic technique in positioning and physics to assure the highest quality outcome of the exam being performed.
• Practices proper shielding techniques according to patient’s age and the exam being performed.
• Documents HPI (history of present illness) and any other necessary signs and symptoms to aid the radiologist to obtain a quality reading of the exam.
• Processes images electronically and determines the quality of the exam before it is transferred for a radiology reading.
• Responsible for cleanliness and daily maintenance of imaging equipment.
• Performs a weekly QAP on imaging equipment.
• Maintains current knowledge in the imaging field.
• Performs EKG’s and gives it to ordering provider for review.
• Has appropriate training and performs capillary and venous collections as needed.
• Washes or uses hand sanitizer on hands before and after each patient contact.
• Uses proper technique in obtaining blood samples.
• Labels specimens’ immediately after procedure is completed with patient name, date, time, and initials.
• Disposes of used needles after use in biohazard sharps containers and does not recap needles.
• Responsible for performing waived tests such as: Strep, influenza, and other waived tests.
• Self-starter that recognizes and performs duties that need to be performed although not directly assigned; regularly helps others.
• Follows infection control policies and procedures.
• Answers the telephone with courtesy and respect to customers.
• Practices good communication skills with staff and patients.
• Ability to identify and report problems to Manager.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Education, Experience, and Training
a. Graduate from an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology.
b. High School diploma or GED preferred.
c. ARRT Certificate in General Radiology.
d. Iowa Permit to Practice.
e. Knowledge of DR and PACS.
f. Maintains 24 hours of continuing education every Two (2) years.
g. Experience with Phlebotomy.
h. Experience performing EKG’s.
i. Basic computer knowledge.
j. Must have the ability to work with associated technologies relevant to the position.
k. Must possess the ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in written form, information system problems, needs, and solutions with all levels of the organization.
l. Must possess knowledge of databases, spreadsheet applications, word processing, and network administration.
m. Must possess valid Mandatory Reporter training for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse.
n. Must be able to read, speak, and write fluent English.
