Staff Pharmacist-PRN-Compass Memorial Healthcare
Compass Memorial Healthcare is seeking a PRN Staff Pharmacist to provide Inpatient and ambulatory services at Compass Memorial Healthcare.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

Under the supervision of the Pharmacy Manager, performs all duties necessary to provide for the effective daily operation of all departmental services and programs.
Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree is required.

Current licensure or evidence of application for licensure as a registered pharmacist in the State of Iowa.
Chemotherapy knowledge/experience highly desired.
Prefer 1-3 years of hospital pharmacy experience.
Completion of ASHP-PGY1 Residency desirable.
Knowledge and experience with 340b program desirable.
Must have the ability to work with associated technologies relevant to the position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Interprets and evaluates all physicians’ medication and IV admixture orders with clarification as deemed necessary.
• Accurately checks and fulfills automatic dispensing system restock lists.
• Controls the disposition of narcotics, other scheduled drugs, dangerous drugs, and investigational drugs as required by state and federal regulations.
• Accurately labels, and dispenses medications to both inpatients and outpatients.
• Participates in all clinical programs as required, including patient rounds, dosage monitoring for compromised patients, admission drug histories, pharmacokinetic dosing, patient discharge consultation, anticoagulation management, etc.
• Advises the prescriber, nurse and patients as required regarding the contents, therapeutic action, utilization, and possible adverse reactions or interactions of drugs.
• Directly supervises technicians and interns in the proper packaging, labeling, and distribution of sterile and non-sterile medications.
• Assists with the check-in and storage of all drugs and supplies in the absence of the pharmacy technician.
• Has working knowledge of compliance issues (specific to job responsibilities), with regard to federal, state, and local law and regulation. Job performance is consistent with regulatory guidelines.
• Assists with the general operations of the CMH retail pharmacy.
• Assists with the general operations of the North English CMH Retail Pharmacy and provide staffing as needed.
Assists with the general operations and duties of Staff Pharmacist at CMH at least 50% of the time, or more as needed based on scheduling.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Education, Experience, and Training
a. Bachelors of Science Degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree is required.
b. Current licensure or evidence of application for licensure as a registered pharmacist in the State of Iowa.
c. Must have the ability to work with associated technologies relevant to the position.
d. Must possess the ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in written form, needs and solutions with all levels of the organization.
e. Ability to define problems, collect information, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
f. Must possess valid Mandatory Reporter training for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse, or within 6 months of hire.
g. Must be able to read, speak, and write fluent English.
