Laboratory Services
Compass Memorial Healthcare's laboratory provides a full line of comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic laboratory tests. Laboratory testing is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week to support the Emergency Department and In-patient Services. The lab is staffed by medical technologists, technicians and laboratory assistants who are committed to providing excellent care for their patients. State-of-the-art instrumentation and information systems are utilized to ensure accurate and precise test results in a timely manner for you and your healthcare provider. Results of testing will be forwarded to your healthcare provider upon completion.An order from the patient's healthcare provider is required for any diagnostic or therapeutic procedure to be performed. Appointments are not required for most laboratory tests; patients will be seen in the order of arrival. Please call 319-642-8031 to schedule an appointment for pre-employment drug screenings or breath alcohol collections, bone marrow biopsies and phlebotomies.

Fasting is required for some tests to be properly interpreted by your healthcare provider. Please fast for a minimum of 10 hours for tests that include lipids (Cholesterol, Triglycerides, HDL Cholesterol, LDL) or glucose (sugar, Basic Metabolic Profile [BMP], Comprehensive Metabolic Profile CMP).
