Frequently Asked Questions

Why would I need physical therapy?

Physical therapy is a tool to relieve pain, help you move better, and strengthen weakened muscles. It is a treatment that you continue to do at home yourself to improve your well-being and health to achieve a happier, healthier life.

What happens if I don’t do physical therapy?

It’s important for injuries and post-surgery to heal properly, otherwise it’s much easier to injure the same area of your body again. If you choose not to do physical therapy, you’re running the risk of healing slower, pain continuing and falling back into the problem you’re currently experiencing.

What do you do at physical therapy?

Depending on your needs there are a variety of things you may do at physical therapy. Some examples are:

  • Therapeutic exercises such as ROM, strengthening, stretching
  • Patient education
  • Modalities, such as ultrasound and electrical stimulation
  • Manual therapy, such as traction and join mobilization
  • Kinesiotaping
  • Gate training
  • Assistive devices
  • Balance training
  • Pediatric development
What should I expect at a pediatric physical therapy appointment?
Physical Therapy

Your child’s physical therapist will spend the initial visit asking questions about changes in pain, medication, sleep or information that might impact participation in physical therapy. They will check strength and pasture and complete age-appropriate exercises to evaluate mobility and balance.

What is pelvic floor therapy?

Pelvic Health Therapy is a non-surgical approach in the management of some pelvic dysfunctions that contribute to bladder, bowel, pain, and sexual complaints. It consists of external and internal assessment and management of the pelvic flood muscles, and the surrounding areas may be contributing to the problem(s).

What are symptoms of having pelvic floor dysfunction?

Common pelvic floor dysfunction symptoms include:

  • Urinary incontinence
  • Urinary leakage
  • Pelvic pain
  • Pain with intercourse
  • Pelvic organs prolapse
  • Pelvic pain in pregnancy
