Mammography

What is 3D Mammography?

A mammogram is an X-ray of the breast used to detect and diagnose breast conditions. Compass Memorial offers advanced 3D mammography for clearer, more detailed images. Screening mammograms are recommended for women with no symptoms as part of routine preventive care.

When should you start?

  • Ages 40: Annual Mammograms recommended
  • High risk factors: Family history of breast cancer, genetic predisposition, or other risk factors
  • Any breast concerns at any age, please talk with your provider
  • If you have concerns at any age, talk with your provider about scheduling a mammogram

CT Scan

A CT (computerized tomography) scan uses rotating X-ray technology to create detailed cross-sectional or 3D images of your organs and tissues.

Why it’s used:

  • Helps diagnosis diseases and injuries and monitor treatments.
  • Diagnosing muscle and bone issues, including fractures and tumors
  • Locating infections, blood clots, or other internal abnormalities
  • Bone Density Screening

PET/CT Scan

Positron emission tomography (PET) scans detect early signs of cancer, heart disease and brain conditions. It involves an injection of a safe radioactive tracer that helps detect diseased cells.

Why it’s used:

A PET/CT scan helps your physician diagnose conditions, choose the best treatment plan, and monitor your progress over time.

MRI

What is an MRI?

MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) a powerful magnet and radiowaves, not radiation, to produce highly detailed images of organs and tissues.

Common uses include:

  • Joint injuries
  • Spinal disc issues
  • Bone or soft tissue infections

X-Ray

What is a general X-Ray and when is it needed?

A general X-ray provides quick, imaging of the chest, spine, skull, extremities, hips, and pelvis. It is commonly used to identify fractures, injuries, and other abnormalities using a low dose of radiation.

Echocardiogram

What is an echocardiogram?

An echocardiogram uses ultrasound waves to create moving images of the heart. It helps diagnose or monitor heart disease and can detect damage from a heart attack.

Why it’s needed:

Your provider may recommend an echocardiogram if you experience symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath, or lightheadedness.
