What is Pulmonary Function Testing?

Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs) are tests that show how well your lungs are working. They measure lung volume, capacity, airflow rates, and gas exchange. PFTs may be used to check lung function before surgery or certain procedures, and they help monitor how chronic conditions, such as asthma, chronic obstructive lung disease (COPF), or cystic fibrosis, affect your breathing.

What Is a Holter Monitor?

A Holter monitor is a portable device that continuously records your heart’s activity. It can detect abnormal heart rhythms that may not appear during a standard medical appointment. A technician will place the monitor on you and show you how to use it. The device is typically 24 to 48 hours and helps identify irregular heartbeats called arrhythmias.

A Holter monitor test may be recommended when a traditional EKG does not provide enough information about the heart’s condition.

What is Electrocardiogram (EKG)?

Electrocardiogram, also known as EKG, is a test providing reliable testing, close to home. An EKG is a painless test that records electrical signals in your heart. It provides crucial information about your heart’s rhythm, rate, and overall health. During the test small electrode patches are placed on your skin, typically on your chest, arms, and legs, to capture the heart’s electrical impulses.
